Vimbai is the second child in a family of three. The father died and the mother now resides in Chegutu, Zimbabwe, a rural area 220 km from Vimbai’s location. The mother was re-married and has one boy child with Vimbai’s stepfather. The death of the father affected her and she hasn’t really gotten used to the situation in her family. The mother does not work but the stepfather works as a butcher with the salary being insufficient to sustain the family. The grandparents do not work and cultivate the land surrounding the small homestead for food. Vimbai plays netball.
