Ellen is a vibrant young lady who has risen above her circumstances. Since she was 15, Ellen has always been passionate about journalism. Today she is the first in her family to attend university. Being the eldest child in a family of three and growing up in one of Harare's poorest communities, she was constantly exposed to chronic poverty, both inside and outside the home. However, she has used her unfavorable circumstances as a motivation for a better life for herself and her siblings. Many girls in Zimbabwe are either married or pregnant by the time they reach Ellen's age, reducing their chances of pursuing their dream. Ellen has managed to break boundaries and defied this stereotype.
